Shakespeare’s plays are great but not without its problems. The one thing that makes his play so great is his language, at the same time it is a major stumbling blovk, too.I am really glad this “no fear” version makes it a lot faster to read this play. Instead of endless annotations there is a modern-day translation which cuts down on the time it takes to comprehend the play.I definitely recommend this version. The play is a must for anyone interested in Shakespeare and his most important tragedy. Makes excellent reading but watch a film version, too.

Zur Geschichte selbst lässt sich natürlich nicht mehr viel sagen - ein klassisches Werk. Die Ausgabe selbst kommt zu einem guten Preis daher, ist ansprechenden gestaltet und bietet neben der Geschichte selbst viele interessante Hintergrundinformationen.

Wir haben das Stück in der Schule gelesen und Shakespeare ist sicherlich alles andere als einfache Kost. Die ganzen Zusatzinformationen (eine Spalte Text, eine Spalte Übersetzungen und Worterklärungen pro Seite) haben den Text inhaltlich aber um einiges verständlicher gemacht. Die ganzen Zusatzinformationen zu Shakespeare und dem historischen Kontext, genauso wie Interpretationen der Motive der Charaktere und Zusammenfassungen der einzelnen Akten waren gut und verständlich geschrieben.Klasse Ausgabe!

Der Versand hatte sich ein wenig verzögert, was ich nicht allzu schlimm fand, da es trotzdem sehr früh angekommen ist. Shakespeare ist einer meiner Lieblingsautoren, seine Werke kann ich nur empfehlen!

Im Englisch LK ist Othello Pflicht und das historische Englisch ist im Original sehr schwer zu verstehen. Als ich dieses Buch zu Hilfe nahm, konnte ich die Kapitel in viel kürzerer Zeit verstehen und deuten. Auch im Unterricht konnte ich besser mitarbeiten und für die Vorbereitung aufs Abi ein Muss.

Ich wollte mir Othello im Theater anschauen. Mein Englisch ist sehr mittelmäßig, daher war dieses Buch sehr hilfreich für mich.Ich las mir den Teil im moderenen Englisch (jeweils abgedruckt auf der rechten Seite) durch und wusste dann worum es ging, auch wenn ich im Theater nicht jeden Dialog verstand. Das Gute an diesem Buch ist, dass auf den linken Seiten die Sätze im Orginal stehen, während auf der rechten Seite jeweils die Übersetzung in modernen Englisch steht. Wer viel Zeit und gute Englischkenntnisse besitzt, kann sich daher auch mit dem Orginal beschäftigen und sich gelegentlich Hilfe auf der rechten Seite (modernes Englisch) suchen.

Es ist das einzige Buch, was eine Version der Tragödie in modernem English recht günstig bietet. Es fehlen jedoch jegliche Zeilenangaben, welche für eine Analyse sehr wichtig sind. Ich habe jedoch die Tragödie in Original Form vorliegen somit ist es nicht ganz so schlimm. Generell hat es das Arbeiten doch erleichtert.

Musste mir das Buch für den Englischunterricht kaufen. Die Story an sich ist auch schön Spannend und dadurch, dass Originalsprache und neue, verständliche Version des Buches nebeneinenader stehen, kann man sich auch durch das Englisch zu Shakespears Zeiten durchfuchsen. Die zusätzlichen Informationen zum Stück waren darüber hinaus auch sehr hilfreich um die Hintergründe der Charaktere und des Stücks zu verstehen, sodass eine Bearbeitung sehr leicht fiel.

Kate E. Reynolds, MSc (Dist) BSc. RGN. PGDipHEd. PGDipCouns., worked for the UK's National Health Service for 18 years, seven of which were in HIV/Aids and sexual health as a Clinical Nurse Specialist, Senior Counsellor and staff trainer. In 2005 Kate's son was diagnosed as having 'classic' autism with intellectual (learning) disabilities. Since then, Kate has written several books for JKP about sexuality education and autism/intellectual disabilities. She is a researcher and public speaker; in 2016 she spoke at an All Party Parliamentary Group meeting about sex education and disability and speaks extensively with parents and caregivers.Jonathon Powell completed a Diploma of Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Animation at Griffith University, Queensland. He has illustrated material for Family Planning Queensland, including several brochures, an education manual, 'Talking About It', and a CD-ROM package, 'Puberty Plus'. Jonathon has also illustrated 'Making Sense of Sex' by Sarah Attwood, published by JKP. He lives in Brisbane, Australia.
